A Special Message From Christ Embassy, We Should Grow up Spiritually by Spending Time With Jesus2/12/2017 As believers, you and I are likely to be growing up spiritually, although itâs ok to be youthful at heart. The word instructs that it should be apparent to everyone who interacts with us that we are growing in our love for God and for each other. Ephesians 4:15 reads, ââ¦speaking the truth in love, we're to grow up in every way into Him who's the head, into Christ.â
As a follower of Christ, I shouldnât be the same person day in, day out, year in, year stagnant in spirit out and devoid of growth, and neither should you. But growth isnât about forcing maturity either and bearing down. That strategy fails every time. The good thing is the prescription for growth will be to spend time in prayer as well as in His Word. Hang out with Jesus and youâll be transformed and ever growing, as well as the first person surprised by the change is going to be the one doing the undergoing of an alteration. ![]() A Word From Your Christ Embassy: Jesus Teaches Us to Sit Down With Our Those Who Hate Us! Outwardly every time he turned around, there they were, that Jewish spiritual/political group that hounded Jesus, the Pharisees. They were relentless, and finally, they conspired to have Jesus put to death. In the Gospels there are 89 references to the Pharisees (Matthew-31, Mark-12, Luke-27 and John 19) and the majority of them don't speak into a cosy relationship; there are four references to the Pharisees as a âbrood of vipers,â which really helps to define the form of relationship they'd. ![]() All the same, there are three references, all found to Jesus having dinner with a Pharisee, in the Gospel of Luke. This openness to truly have a meal together with his enemies is indicative of Jesusâ readiness to love his enemies (Matthew 5:43-48). However, there we have it; Jesus going out of his solution to dine together with his enemies. This is a message that we at Christ Embassy must come to understand. This readiness to share a meal with those who hated him speaks volumes of Jesusâ desire for people to continue interacting with those with whom we disagree. Before we possess the possibility news to make choices that result in further isolation we're isolated. It's, therefore, more required more than ever before to heed the call of Christ and actively strike âour enemies.â This call to encounter our enemies isn't limited to Christ of eating together with the Pharisees âs example; it extends to what Christ determined not to do. ![]() With infinitely less effort than it takes me to snap my fingers, Jesus Christ, God-made-man, could have wiped the Pharisees from the surface of the planet earth. Not just that, he could have removed all memory of them whatsoever. It is not indeed difficult to feel justified in our hatred of âour enemies but the only one who's genuinely warranted gave a living example of mercifulness to us. Rather than obliterating the Pharisees, Christ ultimately died for them, and shared a meal with them. Jesus shows us that with âour enemiesâ sharing a meal isn't the limitation of how far we may be asked to go â for âour enemies dying â is just not outside the realm of chance.
